I established Little Gems Pre School in September 2011 and have really enjoyed building
the Pre School up into what it is today with help from many people along the journey!
The Pre School is registered with OFSTED and the Local Authority and is affiliated
to the Preschool Learning Alliance.
I have a range of different experiences in Childcare over many years of employment
and I am a mum myself and I really love my job.
Since taking on Little Gems Pre School I have had the honour and privilege of meeting
and working for many families and I am proud to have repeat recommendations and a
waiting list for new starters!
With the support of my fantastic Team of dedicated Child Care Practitioners along
with Terrie and Julie making up part of my Management Team, we are proud of the Pre
School and strive to continue to encourage children to learn through play and have
a fun experience! Together we are all very passionate about the job we do and the
experiences we plan for the children; we feel we set a high quality standard of care
for all children - the same quality of care we as parents ourselves would like for
our own children’s care.
To that end we have many policies in place to promote consistency. If you wish to
have a copy please ask.
Little Gems Pre School is based at the Swindon Chinese Christian Church in Upper
Stratton (opposite Farrfield on St Philips Road). The members of the church are extremely
supportive of the Pre School and work closely with us to make sure the building is
maintained to a high standard. We are a “Pack away Pre School” setting as we rent
the building from the Church!
Little Gems Pre School are here to care for children from the age of 2 years to 4
years old. We accept funding for 2, 3 and 4 year old children and we are accepting
the 30 hour Government funding programme (subject to space and availability).
The Government funding we receive is for the care and education of your child, it
is not for snack, wipes, nappies and drinks etc, I currently do not charge for these
extras and I will continue to provide a gesture snack each morning - however if you
are willing to donate any unopened packets of cereals, wipes, squash etc then we
would gratefully receive them.
We are very lucky to have an enclosed outdoor play area which we use as an outdoor
classroom ensuring the children can experience an even wider range of fun learning
activities both inside and out. The play area is exclusive to the Pre School during
opening hours therefore we can enhance the area in line with the children’s interests.
I encourage my Team to aim high for the children and they are very passionate about
the Pre School in which they work; we plan lots of fun activities to share with the
children to help them learn and have agreed boundaries and expectations on acceptable
behaviours that we believe help make the children confident to make decisions and
learn to treat others with respect.
